Transformation

Lisa W.

June 2024

I grew up in the western part of Singapore and have observed its transformation over the past decades, especially Jurong East, which is now a vibrant regional hub with large, contemporary shopping malls tenanted by big brands.

Just to be honest, I am aware that the “Easties and the “Centralites” hold the impression that the west is full of jungles, army camps and..... cemeteries.

Well, I can understand why, since the urban development of the west had started later than the central and eastern regions.

I remembered sometime in 2015, I looked in disbelief at the Genting Hotel that had sprung up not far from the Jurong East MRT station.

You see, Jurong East has always been more associated with the heartlands, a residential area for the locals.

But guess what? The Singapore Tourism Board has planned for another hotel as part of the plan to establish a mini tourism hub.

The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) has named this project, the Jurong Lake District in the Master Plan.

To think that is not astonishing enough (in the eye of a Westie), Jurong is also going to become the second CBD of Singapore! Amazing!

LIFESTYLE & RESIDENTIAL

Embracing the existing Jurong Lake Gardens, Chinese Garden and Japanese Garden, the area towards the Lakeside MRT station is reserved for tranquility -- recreation and residential.

The three land parcels on the map show the residential projects that will enjoy an unparalleled unblocked view spanning 300m across the gardens and lakes.

Parcel 1 was the first to en-bloc, followed by Parcel 2.

Parcel 3 is currently awaiting for an en-bloc deal, after two unsuccessful attempts as residents could not agreed to the offer from developer.

  • Parcel 1 was launched as The Lakegarden Residences in August 2023. There are balanced units available still, at this point of writing.
  • Parcel 2 will be launched as a 440-unit project named Sora.

______The preview has just commenced on ______22Jun 2024, with the e-balloting for a queue ______number on 4Jul, and the booking day on ______6Jul 2024.

______In addition to the unblocked view, the ______aesthetic of Sora and the usage for its ______rooftop spaces are really impressive, do

______check it out for yourself :)

Also, if you are a nostalgic person, like me,

do check out the en-bloc old condo -- Park View Mansion -- that is still standing.

It’s interesting to see how the styles of condos have evolved over time. Catch it before its demolished.

The GREAT qualities:

  • The extensive unblocked view overlooking a park and a lake. This view will be guaranteed for a long time, a rarity in Singapore, since the Jurong Lake Gardens is zoned as a national garden.
  • Being a part of one of the most major transformations of Singapore -- the second CBD.
  • The huge park right downstairs is a great convenience to get some exercise, space, and floral & fauna. Good for the body and mind.
  • Simply drive straight down Yuan Ching Road, and you will enter AYE in 5 minutes.

  • The Canadian International School is located nearby = rental demand
